Can your room, your wall and your doorway actually take 98 inches?

Eighty six inches is a little over seven feet wide. That does not fit through a standard 30 inch interior door in its carton, it does not go up a turning staircase, and it is not a two person lift in any responsible sense.
Then the wall. One hundred and sixty seven pounds of television needs a mount rated well above that, fixed into structural framing rather than drywall anchors, and ideally into more than two studs. On a stand, the same weight concentrated on a media unit is a load most furniture is not designed for. Both routes need checking before the delivery is booked, not after.
Finally the room. A 98-inch panel wants a viewing distance of roughly eleven to fifteen feet for 4K content, which is a large living room, a basement theater or a commercial space. Sat eight feet from a screen this size you will be moving your eyes across it rather than taking it in, and the pixel structure becomes visible on anything that is not native 4K. Mini LED backlighting is the specification that justifies the size

Smaller LEDs mean more of them, and more of them means more independently controlled dimming zones. The practical result is that a bright object on a dark background can be lit without washing out the area around it, which is the failure mode that makes ordinary LED sets look grey in dark scenes.
That matters more at 98 inches than at any smaller size, because a large panel puts a large area of grey in front of you when the backlight cannot dim locally. Samsung pairs it with the Neo Quantum Processor 4K for upscaling, Quantum Dot for color volume, and an anti reflection treatment for bright rooms. It also lists Object Tracking Sound Plus, which drives speakers built into several sides of the chassis so audio appears to follow movement on screen, and Ultra Viewing Angle, which reduces the color shift you get when sitting off to one side. On a screen this wide, off axis performance is not a corner case, since the far ends of the picture are off axis even from the middle seat.
Why the HDR number on this page does not settle anything
The listing contradicts itself on the headline HDR figure. The product title says Quantum HDR 64x. The description says Quantum HDR 32X. The specification table’s special features field also says Quantum HDR 32X. Two of the three say 32X, but the title is the first thing a buyer reads, and the page never reconciles them.
It is worth understanding what the number is. Samsung’s own description states that the range of Quantum HDR claims luminance based on internal testing standards and is subject to change according to viewing environment or specific conditions. In other words it is a proprietary multiplier, not a measured brightness in nits and not an industry standard. A figure like 32X or 64X cannot be compared with another manufacturer’s specification, and no peak brightness in nits appears anywhere on this page.
Several other numbers a buyer would want are also missing: there is no refresh rate published, no HDMI port count, no VESA mounting pattern, and no local dimming zone count. Motion Xcelerator Turbo Plus appears in the special features list, which is Samsung’s name for its high frame rate handling, but the listing never states what the panel’s actual refresh rate is. For a set at this size and price, get the full specification sheet from Samsung before ordering.
Living with it: heat, power, and a description written for a different television
The electrical figure given is 120 volts AC, and no wattage is published. A 98-inch Mini LED panel at high brightness is a meaningful continuous load, more than most people expect from a television, and it also puts real heat into the room. On a dedicated circuit it is a non issue, and on a shared circuit with other equipment it is worth thinking about.
The listing also carries a description that was clearly written for the whole QN90A series rather than for this model. It contains three footnotes about 50-inch sets: that the 50-inch has Quantum HDR 24x, that Object Tracking Sound Plus is not available on the 50-inch, and that the 50-inch has a different wide viewing angle behavior. None of that applies to a 98-inch television, and its presence is a reminder that the copy on this page was not written for the product on this page. The same description opens by calling the series the finest of Samsung’s 4K lineup, which is the manufacturer’s own marketing rather than a finding.
Practical ownership points at this size: budget for professional installation and for two or more people on delivery day, plan the cable routing before the mount goes up because you cannot reach behind the panel afterwards, and check that your seating can actually be arranged at the distance the screen wants. A 2021 model also means the platform and its app support are several years into their life, which matters more on a television you expect to keep for a decade.
When a different television is the better call
If the room genuinely justifies this size, it is worth comparing against the other very large panels rather than against 65-inch sets. It does not suit a normal living room, a rented home, an upstairs room reached by a turning staircase, or a buyer who wants to compare measured specifications before committing, because this listing publishes a proprietary HDR multiplier in two contradictory versions and no brightness, refresh or port figures at all.
